Bharat Compostables produces sustainable bags by utilizing plant-based and biodegradable materials through a comprehensive and environmentally-friendly manufacturing process. The primary raw material, cornstarch is derived from corn and is used to create bioplastic. The raw materials undergo a polymerization process where monomers like lactic acid (derived from plant starch) are polymerized to form PLA. This involves fermenting the plant sugars and then converting them into lactic acid, which is subsequently polymerized. PLA is often blended with other biodegradable materials like PBAT to enhance the flexibility and strength of the final product. The blend is then extruded to form a film. The extruded blend is processed into a thin film, which is the basis for the compostable bags. This film can be adjusted in thickness depending on the desired application of the bags. The bags are printed with eco-friendly inks and packaged for distribution
