Community TV Network (CTVN) is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois, dedicated to empowering youth through digital media education and production. Since its founding in 1974, CTVN has been promoting the visions and voices of Chicago’s students by providing them with the resources and education they need to make digital media. Their programs instill awareness, motivation, and tools in students to create positive futures for themselves and their communities. CTVN offers hands-on interdisciplinary classes that frame media production as a tool for personal and community development. Their flagship program, Hard Cover, is the longest-running student-run TV show in Chicago, giving students a platform to express their creativity and address community issues. Over 10,000 students have participated in CTVN’s media literacy and video production programs, contributing to a vibrant digital catalogue of diverse young voices.
