Type of solution
Solvatten is an innovative, portable device designed to purify and heat water using solar energy, providing safe drinking water and reducing reliance on traditional fuel sources. The unit consists of a durable black plastic case that opens like a book, revealing two transparent compartments, each capable of holding five liters of water. To operate, users fill these compartments with contaminated water and place the open device under direct sunlight. The system harnesses solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation and thermal energy to inactivate harmful microorganisms present in the water. Within approximately 2 to 6 hours, depending on sunlight intensity, the water temperature can reach up to 75°C (167°F), effectively eliminating pathogens and making the water safe for consumption.
