Say Trees
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
SayTrees is a professionally run group of ordinary people extraordinarily determined to protect the environment not just by themselves, but also by sensitising others towards the importance of environment conservation and goading them on to participate in tree-plantation campaigns. Though it started off as a weekend pursuit in 2007 now it does more than 50 tree plantation drives in 4 months of monsoon. SayTrees spearheads a variety of initiatives including research, education, sensitisation and advocacy around the importance of environmental preservation and tree plantation. The group thrives on its vast volunteer base that runs into thousands, from young children to busy professionals, housewives and retired citizens. Today, SayTrees organizes tree plantations and water conservation projects across several Indian cities. We pro-actively engage in identifying potential areas for plantation, keeping in mind the biodiversity and ecological milieu of the local area. We try ensuring that the local communities reap multifold benefits; besides restoring the green cover, the trees also provide them with fruits, flowers, leaves etc commonly used in the community life.
Fruits of the Forage
Macclesfield, England, United Kingdom
Fruits of the Forage produces natural vegan preserves that fight food waste and save heritage fruits throughout North West England, West Midlands, and North Wales. This includes jams, marmalades, chutneys, sauces, pickles, cordials, liqueurs, and syrups—additionally making use of sustainably harvested wild plants and surplus local produce together with fruit from abandoned orchards and small-scale heritage fruit farms. Key ingredients include dandelions, elderflower, hogweed seeds, crab apples, blackberries, sweet cicely, ground elder, damsons, sloes, and heritage varieties of plums, apples, and pears. This company is working with schools, farms, and community groups to plant fruit trees using traditional agroforestry methods, creating small-scale orchards and hedgerows. Thus, they teach people about local foods and create habitats for wildlife, increasing biodiversity and preserving the local heritage. The Fruits of the Forage has the mission of producing delicious preserves in a sustainable way while encouraging good environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Trees for the Future
Maryland City, Maryland, United States
Trees for the Future is using regenerative agriculture training to sustainably end poverty for farmers & better the environment. As a UN World Restoration Flagship, TREES is recognized as one of the best large-scale ecosystem restoration efforts on the planet. The prestigious Flagship award is part of an effort by the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration to ensure that measurable progress is made on the UN’s environmental goals by 2030. The initiative works closely with tens of thousands of farmers living in poverty on degraded lands following decades of unsustainable agriculture practices, deforestation, pollution, and climate change. TREES provides training in a regenerative agroforestry technique called the Forest Garden Approach.
