The Bits & Watts Initiative at Stanford University is dedicated to transforming the electric grid for a sustainable and intelligent energy future. Hosted by the Precourt Institute for Energy, it brings together researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to develop innovative solutions for grid modernization, resilience, and clean energy integration. The initiative explores AI-driven energy management, the growing role of distributed energy resources, and sustainable solutions to power the expanding digital economy. With its latest program, “Sustainably Powering AI,” Bits & Watts addresses the energy demands of artificial intelligence while ensuring environmental responsibility. Additionally, the initiative fosters education through its Smart Grid Seminar, equipping professionals with insights into emerging energy technologies. By promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, Bits & Watts aims to create a future-proof power infrastructure that balances technological advancement with sustainability, affordability, and reliability, paving the way for a cleaner and more efficient global energy landscape.
