All sectors / Organic gardening / City to Farm
We City to Farm collects food scraps from the city to build transform poor, non-productive clay soils into highly productive soils on nearby farms. We do this to divert valuable food scraps away from landfill, enable local food production, infiltrate rainwater for climate resilience, increase rural farm income, stop soil erosion and build topsoil carbon as a living carbon sink. Our project uses a unique combination of bokashi and biochar to supercharge the food scraps into a highly effective soil amendment. We are a social enterprise run by an environmental education trust called The Sustainable North Trust (CC20456)
