Holding Court

Holding Court

Holding Court is a US fashion brand selling silk dresses and skirts, swimwear, robes, kimonos and scarves. It also publishes books on eco-conscious living. The designs are based on the cosmic-themed art of founder Courtney Barriger, and the range covers womenswear, menswear and plus sizes. Each piece is made to order, so production begins only after a customer buys. The brand uses Oeko-Tex silk, GOTS cotton and GRS recycled fibres in its swimwear. It plants a tree for every sale as part of its carbon neutrality, and it runs free education through a podcast, blog and online class called Environmental Style Now. Good On You rates Holding Court Good overall, with Good for planet and animals and It's a Start for people. It notes that the brand reuses some textile offcuts, avoids plastic packaging and audits all of its final production stage. It also finds no evidence that the brand pays living wages or acts on water use.
