Good Citizens Eyewear is an Australian brand making sunglasses, prescription glasses and readers, along with spare parts. Its frames are modular, with no metal or screws, so wearers can swap and replace parts to change their look or repair them. Prescription lenses are made in the brand's Sydney lab. Each frame is made from one discarded 600ml single-use plastic bottle, and the company runs its own manufacturing in Sydney with the stated goal of fair pay and no exploitation. Through partners, it funds the collection of ocean-bound plastic and carbon reduction for each pair sold. The brand also gives talks and teaches about waste, and its design approach is part of the Victorian school curriculum.
