JCS Sri Lanka Girl Guides
The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association, founded in 1917, is dedicated to helping girls and young women achieve their fullest potential as responsible global citizens. It is part of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), which has over 10 million members across 160 countries. The association focuses on voluntary action, community development, environmental awareness, health education, and leadership skills. It also actively includes people with disabilities and those from disadvantaged communities. Additionally, the Jennie Calverley Society (JCS) was established to support elder guide leaders who served the association for many years and now require care and assistance.
The association mobilizes volunteers, raises funds, and provides care to the guide leader community, ensuring that their contributions are recognized and supported. Through these initiatives, the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association fosters leadership, inclusivity, and service within communities.
