LEAD Foundation is a purpose driven local non-governmental organization (NGO) registered with the Government of Tanzania. LEAD, a locally-led NGO, has a proven experience working in arid and semi-arid areas particularly in implementing landscape restoration and climate-smart agriculture projects using nature-based solutions. LEAD has been pioneering these ecosystem-based approaches and interventions for more than 12 years as they have proved to be low-cost, fast, replicable and effective in restoring degraded lands and deteriorating ecosystems. LEAD Is A United Nations Convention To Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Accredited Organization The acronym ``LEAD`` conveys the ethos of the goals of the Foundation; to inspire and equip stakeholders to be upfront in applying most appropriate and effective principles and practices of servant leadership, environmental conservation and action for community transformation.
Lead Foundation involves local communities in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects to ensure that initiatives meet their actual needs and foster ownership & conducts comprehensive assessments to understand the specific needs and challenges of different communities . They provide training and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as entrepreneurship, leadership, and vocational skills & builds and renovates school facilities to create conducive learning environments. Along with that they provide scholarships and financial aid to students from low-income families to ensure they have access to education. By conducting tree planting campaigns to combat deforestation they promote reforestation. Sustainable farming practices are adopting that protect the environment and enhance food security. They run campaigns to educate communities about hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention. Advocates for women’s rights and gender equality through various programs and campaigns & offers skills training programs for women to promote economic independence.
