Substation33 is a social enterprise based in Logan that specializes in electronic waste (e-waste) and container recycling, actively contributing to environmental sustainability and social impact. The organization focuses on diverting waste from landfills by collecting, sorting, and deconstructing e-waste into reusable components. These materials are either refurbished for sale or repurposed into upcycled products, fostering a circular economy. Substation33 also plays a vital role in the community by providing a supportive and inclusive workplace, offering employment pathways for marginalized and disadvantaged individuals. Through their innovation and coworking space, they commercialize upcycled products and host community workshops, hackathons, and start-up events. Additionally, they provide low-cost refurbished computers to schools, charities, and the public, and participate in food recovery efforts, supplying free groceries to those in need. Operating under the not-for-profit YFS, Substation33 reinvests all surplus funds to further its mission of sustainability and social equity.
