Aster & Oak is a family-owned children's label from Western Australia. It makes organic cotton baby clothes, kidswear, wraps, sleeping bags, bedding and gift sets. Its founder Melissa started the brand after struggling to find natural, allergy-friendly clothing for her son's eczema-prone skin. Local artists hand-illustrate each collection. The brand's garments are GOTS certified, made from organic fibres and coloured with low-impact dyes, with no toxic chemicals. Aster & Oak says it controls each collection from design through manufacture and tests pieces for durability so they can be handed down. Good On You rates Aster & Oak Good overall: Great for planet, It's a Start for people and Great for animals. It credits the brand with limiting production runs, avoiding plastic packaging and using non-toxic dyes, and notes that its whole range is vegan. It also notes that final production happens in countries with a high risk of labour abuse and that there is no evidence of living wages.
