SAF+ Consortium is a Montreal-based company dedicated to producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from large industrial sources. Unlike traditional SAF production methods, which use biomass or fats, SAF+ utilizes CO2, combining it with green hydrogen from hydroelectricity to create synthetic kerosene. This innovative process reduces lifecycle emissions by over 80% compared to conventional jet fuels. SAF+ is poised to address the growing demand for low-carbon fuels in aviation, especially as the industry pushes toward net-zero targets by 2050. The company is advancing its technology through partnerships with major industry players like Airbus and Pratt & Whitney, aiming to scale up production with a commercial plant capable of producing 30 million liters of SAF annually by 2025. SAF+ is part of a larger global effort to decarbonize aviation while meeting the sector's strict emissions reduction goals.
