About

SaXcell is a Dutch innovator turning pre‑ and post‑consumer cotton textile waste into regenerated man‑made cellulose fibers, using a closed‑loop lyocell recycling process. Their technology dissolves cotton-based textiles into a pulp, which is then spun into yarn without requiring new agricultural land, dramatically cutting water usage — only about 10 liters per kilogram of SaXcell fiber, versus 2,000 liters per kilogram for conventional cotton. Through partnerships like Birla Cellulose, SaXcell scales production using existing textile infrastructure. They aim to close the loop fully: used textiles can be recycled again into SaXcell, keeping them within a sustainable circular economy.

Products & services

SaXcell offers circular textile fibers made from chemically recycled cotton waste using sustainable lyocell technology.

SaXcell transforms used cotton textiles into sustainable, high-quality lyocell fibers using a closed-loop recycling process available globally.

1. Textile Collection and Sorting: Pre- and post-consumer cotton textiles are collected, sorted, and graded to ensure quality for recycling.

2. Shredding & Cleaning: Textiles are shredded and cleaned to remove impurities, labels, and non-cotton materials before chemical processing.

3. Pulping Process: Cleaned textiles are dissolved into cellulose pulp in a closed-loop system that recycles solvents and chemicals efficiently.

4. Lyocell Wet Spinning: The cellulose pulp is spun into fibers using the lyocell method, producing strong, soft, and durable fibers.

5. Fiber Blending & Finishing: Recycled fibers can be blended with other cellulose fibers, dried, and processed for uniform quality and textile integration.

6. Circular Reprocessing: Finished SaXcell fibers can be re-collected at end-of-life and recycled again, supporting continuous circularity in the textile supply chain.
