COG is a French brand making vegan sneakers, boots and city shoes for men and women, with the aim of making high-quality, eco-responsible footwear more accessible. Its shoes are made in Portugal and carry the PETA Approved Vegan label. The brand uses no animal leather and only water-based glues. Its materials include natural and recycled components as well as synthetic fibres, and it states that it looks for the most eco-responsible materials on the market. COG presents leather-free shoes as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the pollution linked to livestock farming and tanning. Good On You rates COG Good overall: Good for planet, It's a Start for people and Great for animals. It credits the brand's recycled materials, low-waste cutting, action on transport emissions and recycled packaging. On the people side, it notes that COG visits suppliers and traces most of its supply chain, but found no evidence of living wages being paid.
