Alocasia longiloba, also known as elephant ear or Alocasia veitchii, has large, glossy, deep green heart-shaped leaves with contrasting white veins. It originates in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia and can grow to about 100 cm. Jiffy Plants sells it as a single small plant with a pot and rates it for growers with moderate experience. It needs bright indirect light, soil kept moist but not saturated, a well-draining mix and extra humidity from misting or a pebble tray. The seller notes it may go dormant and lose leaves in winter, and that it is toxic to pets.
