Crafted by JOD is a conscious lifestyle brand based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, redefining fashion and home decor through the upcycling of discarded textiles. Founded by Yashvi Shah, the enterprise operates on the beautiful philosophy that "JOD means to join," bringing together flawed fabrics, traditional art forms, and mindful intentions. They rescue fabrics that industrial standards deem inefficient—due to stains or minor flaws—and transform them into a canvas for creative expression. Through meticulous hand-painting, intricate embroidery, and detailed applique, they craft unique apparel like corsets and statement shirts alongside exquisite homeware such as wall art, table runners, and coasters. By actively collaborating with eco-conscious creators and self-help groups, Crafted by JOD builds a community grounded in sustainability and responsible consumption. The brand successfully champions the beauty of imperfection, actively diverting hundreds of kilograms of textile waste from landfills and creating purposeful, slow-fashion masterpieces.

Method and Technique of Crafted by JOD are:
Discarded Fabric Procurement and Sorting: The enterprise utilizes a highly targeted material recovery method, actively sourcing flawed, stained, and industrially rejected textiles, systematically washing and categorizing these reclaimed materials based on texture, durability, and color to prepare them for secondary artistic processing.
Flaw-Integrated Pattern Engineering: Crafted by JOD employs a deeply creative design technique, meticulously cutting and drafting garment patterns to intentionally incorporate or mask the original fabric imperfections through strategic placement, successfully turning material flaws into central, defining aesthetic features of the final product.
Hand-Painted and Applique Surface Design: They utilize an intricate artisanal finishing method, deploying skilled craftspeople to apply custom hand-painted motifs, delicate embroidery, and complex fabric applique to the reclaimed textiles, successfully elevating the aesthetic value of the material and masking any persistent visual defects.
On-Demand Small-Batch Manufacturing: The organization employs a strict slow-fashion production technique, ensuring that the cutting, sewing, and finishing of their shirts, corsets, and homeware items commence only after a customer order is confirmed, effectively maintaining an inventory-free, zero-waste operational model.
Patchwork Remnant Utilization: Crafted by JOD utilizes a rigorous circular material method, systematically collecting all textile offcuts and tiny fabric scraps generated during the primary garment construction to seamlessly stitch them together into vibrant, multi-colored patchwork shirts, coasters, and home accessories.
Eco-Conscious Collaborative Assembly: They employ a decentralized, community-driven manufacturing technique, actively delegating specific crafting, stitching, and finishing tasks to local self-help groups and independent artisans, successfully ensuring high-quality, ethical production while fostering regional economic resilience and maintaining a low industrial footprint.

Jiwya
Jiwya is a fashion brand that works only with plant-based materials. It sells everyday clothing for men and women, unisex pieces and avant-garde dresses, as well as handmade home decor and tableware. Two textile scientists started the brand after travelling across India to study its traditional crafts. The supply chain uses seven native plant fibres and twenty plant-based colours, with no synthetic dyes, plastic or animal products. The brand says its products can return to the soil at the end of their life. Raw materials come from more than 150 artisan clusters, and the garments are handspun, handwoven and hand-embroidered. Jiwya says its dyeing uses a tenth of the water of conventional methods, and the used water goes to its garden. Scraps from garment production are upcycled into embellishments and accessories. The brand says it pays wages about 17 to 20 percent above industry standards. Through its Re:Jiwya program, it takes back pieces that customers no longer want.
