Lydia’s Loom is a Korean social enterprise dedicated to promoting traditional handwoven textiles from women artisans in Guatemala, Indonesia, and the Philippines. By combining these textiles with contemporary designs, they create a unique collection of ethical bags and housewares. The company follows strict fair trade principles, ensuring artisans receive fair wages and sustainable income. Since partnering with a Mayan weavers’ cooperative in Guatemala, artisans’ monthly income has increased fivefold, and membership has grown by 80%. Their work has gained international recognition, being featured on Korean television and in exhibitions. Lydia’s Loom has embedded its social mission into its legal structure and is officially recognized as a social enterprise by the Korean government. Actively involved in the local social economy council, they also support the broader social enterprise sector. By blending heritage craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, Lydia’s Loom empowers artisans, preserves cultural traditions, and promotes ethical fashion globally.
