Dock to Dish is a pioneering sustainable seafood initiative founded in 2012 in Montauk, New York. It connects local fishermen with communities and restaurants through a membership-based model, ensuring fresh, traceable, and responsibly sourced seafood. Inspired by community-supported agriculture (CSA), it operates as a community-supported fishery (CSF), providing consumers with high-quality seafood while offering fair wages to fishermen. The organization introduced the first restaurant-supported fishery program in collaboration with Chef Dan Barber, supplying whole fish directly to top restaurants. By emphasizing local sourcing, it reduces seafood’s carbon footprint, minimizes waste, and supports ocean conservation efforts.
After a relaunch in 2023, Dock to Dish expanded to serve nearly 100 restaurants in New York City, offering over 80 species of local fish and shellfish annually. Through its global partnerships, Dock to Dish continues to promote sustainable fishing practices worldwide, ensuring that local fish stay on local plates.
