Redemption Roasters is the world’s first coffee company operating behind bars, reducing reoffending rates in the UK by equipping prisoners with employable skills. Without skills or jobs, ex-offenders are 50% more likely to reoffend. Redemption Roasters addresses this issue by running a roastery inside HMP the Mount men’s prison and barista academies across justice institutions nationwide. Prisoners are trained in professional coffee roasting and barista skills. Upon release, Redemption helps them secure employment with over 100 wholesale clients or at their growing London coffee shop chain. Coffee is ethically sourced through direct trade and environmentally responsible roasting methods.
