Spanish Moss (Tillandsia usneoides) is a silvery-grey air plant that grows without soil, with long trailing strands that can be hung from a tree, draped over a mounted plant or used as a hanging decoration. Jiffy Plants sells it in six sizes: X-Small, Small, Medium, Bushy, Large and Big. The nursery recommends bright, filtered light out of direct sun, a daily misting, and a short soak in water once a week in warm weather or every two weeks in winter, shaking off the excess afterwards. It prefers 18 to 26°C and high humidity, so a bathroom or kitchen suits it. New plants can be started by separating strands, and the nursery notes Tillandsia has no known toxicity.
