Spell US

Australia

Spell is an Australian boho womenswear label designed in Byron Bay. It sells dresses, blouses, skirts, pants, swimwear and accessories, with sizes from XXS to 3XL. Its signature prints are hand-drawn by the Byron Bay team. Styles are rarely recut, and the brand presents them as pieces to keep and pass on. The brand began with sisters Isabella and Elizabeth selling at Byron Bay's artisan markets. Good On You lists certifications including B Corp, Fairtrade and the Global Recycled Standard. Good On You rates Spell Good overall: Great for planet, Good for people and Good for animals. It notes organic cotton and other lower-impact materials, a published breakdown of materials, low-waste cutting, digital printing and no plastic packaging. More than half of final production is certified, most of the supply chain is traced, and some workers are paid living wages. Animal materials in the range include leather, wool and alpaca, with a portion of the wool recycled or certified, and the brand has a formal animal welfare policy.

ELK is an Australian label from Melbourne. It makes clothing, leather bags, shoes, jewellery and accessories for women and men. Pieces are designed in Melbourne and handmade in several countries. The brand describes its style as artisanal, with a focus on colour, print and sculptural form. ELK works from a conscious fashion philosophy. It looks for natural or lower-impact materials and better options for production, distribution, circularity and waste. The brand became a certified B Corp in 2024 and publishes a yearly Transparency Report. It also provides care and repair guidance to help customers make their garments last longer. Good On You rates ELK Good overall. It scores 4 out of 5 for planet and people and 3 for animals. The rating mentions its use of organic cotton, reuse of textile offcuts, renewable energy in the supply chain and tracing of its final production stage. The range includes tops, bodysuits, dresses, skirts, jumpsuits, coats and outerwear. The brand says it ignores seasonal trends and wants its pieces to be worn for years. COSSAC designs in Europe and makes its clothes in European factories. Good On You reports that all final production takes place in Portugal. The brand describes its approach as slow-made: short production runs and responsible materials. Good On You rates COSSAC Good overall, with Good scores for planet, people and animals. It credits the brand's use of lower-impact materials such as organic cotton, limited production runs, renewable energy in the supply chain, recycled packaging and regular supplier visits.
