The Pink Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera) is a rainforest cactus grown for its delicate pink flowers, which usually appear around the holiday season. Jiffy Plants sells it as a single plant in a jiffy bag. The nursery recommends bright, indirect light, watering when the top inch of soil is dry, and a well-draining cactus or succulent mix. To encourage buds, it suggests 12 to 14 hours of uninterrupted darkness each night and cooler temperatures of 12 to 15°C for six to eight weeks before you want it to bloom. The plant prefers to be slightly snug in its pot, so repotting is only needed every two to three years, in spring after flowering.
