This Purple Christmas Cactus from Jiffy Plants arrives as a well-rooted plant in a Jiffy bag rather than a pot. According to the brand, it is cared for just like the common green Christmas cactus, and the purple tint in its stems usually signals stress, such as strong direct sun, temperature swings or uneven watering; once conditions improve, new growth should come in green. Give it bright, indirect light, a well-draining cactus mix or potting mix with perlite, and water when the top inch of soil is dry. It enjoys humidity. To encourage late-autumn flowers, the brand suggests six to eight weeks of cooler temperatures around 10 to 13°C and 12 to 14 hours of darkness each night.
