Freedom a la Cart is a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio, that offers fresh, from-scratch meals alongside workforce training and supportive services for survivors of human trafficking. Starting in 2011 with a single food cart, Freedom a la Cart has expanded into a full-service café, bakery, and catering business, providing a platform for survivors to develop essential job skills and gain economic independence. In 2020, the organization supported 420 local survivors, offering them the tools needed to rebuild their lives. Over the last five years, 80 individuals have completed workforce training programs with Freedom, and an impressive 83% of those participants have not faced new criminal charges. The organization plays a critical role in the community by combining social impact with sustainable business practices, helping survivors create lasting change in their lives while contributing to the local economy through its food services.
