Làmhan
Làmhan is dedicated to preserving and promoting Scotland’s rich textile heritage by teaching traditional sewing and textile crafts. Through hands-on workshops, apprenticeships, and public education programs, they empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds to develop sewing skills, fostering creativity and self-sufficiency. As a social enterprise, Làmhan provides free training for refugees and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them access employment opportunities. They emphasize repair, reuse, and upcycling, reducing textile waste and promoting sustainable fashion practices. Specializing in traditional tailoring, kiltmaking, and dressmaking, Làmhan ensures that these valuable skills are passed down to future generations.
A member of Social Enterprise Scotland and Zero Waste Scotland, they are committed to sustainability and waste reduction. As a not-for-profit organization, Làmhan reinvests all surplus funds into expanding their mission, supporting communities, and preserving Scotland’s textile legacy for future generations.
